Your failures make better stories.

Hearing about another person’s success is fun. Most people I know are genuinely happy for others when we see them experience good things. But success doesn’t directly translate.

Personal success isn’t easily shared. ie. I’ve never had a friend get a pay raise in which a portion went to me. I’ve never had a friend move into a new house and build me a work bench at their house.

We appreciate success but we RESONATE with failure. We’ve all failed, we are all failing at something right now and most likely in the next few days, months and years we’ll fail again. Maybe in a significant way.

  • We understand the loneliness of struggle and pain.
  • We understand the isolation of failure.
  • We remember during our last struggle while our brain was able to keep it contained our soul began to wonder if this is what life would always be like.

What can you do?

  • Resist the urge to only share the successes in your life.
  • Be willing to visit or revisit the pain of failure and to talk about it. Others need to know they aren’t the only ones suffering.
